A major transformer exploded today about a mile and a half down the road from the house. This smoke is from the mineral oil that is used for cooling them burning off. We were without power from about 2ish until sometime between about 7 or 8 tonight. When Dylan got home we went out for dinner since even though my stove is gas, it still gets extremely warm in the house with the A/C running while I cook dinner. By the time we got home around 8, the power was back on thankfully. Approximately 80,000 houses were without power this evening!

I made pancakes for breakfast. Plain ones for Dylan and chocolate chip ones for the kids. Baduhenna usually makes a huge mess when she eats them in her high chair due to the melty-ness of the chocolate. I just give her a pancake and let her go. I was sitting at the computer doing some updates and kept hearing her in the dining room. I got up to see what she was doing and noticed that she was chilling out under the buffet!

Today was the viewing at the mortuary. I personally do not think that it is appropriate to take pictures of people who have died so you get a picture of Isis and Baduhenna in the swing after the viewing.

I spent most of the day today working on a slideshow project for the viewing and funeral on Sunday and Monday. I could only work on it for a little bit at a time because I would just break down. It was cool to be able to do this for the family but it was EXHAUSTING. However, the payoff came when we went to go see Grandpa and showed everyone the video. I ended up having to make DVD copies for about 9 others and Grandpa wants me to make another one for him. We are planning on getting together next weekend and picking out the pictures that he wants from when they were younger. This second project will be one that is just for him. I am really looking forward to doing it.

The world lost an amazing woman last night. Grandma Keyes is one of the most awesome women that I have had the pleasure to know and love. She accepted me into her family when most would run screaming for the door. When Dylan and I started dating, I was not long out of rehab and my two oldest girls were in foster care. Words cannot describe my feelings for her. I love her dearly and hope that she is finally at peace.

Handyman was here today to work on some of the stuff around the house. He took down the eyesore of the old security system that does not work and this is the spackle that they used to cover the holes left behind. When it dries it will be white and then I just have to paint over it.
