Day 2

How do I know that I am raising a geeklet? She would rather play with the keyboard than the lamppost that play music!

Envisage

Today starts Year 3 of Envisage! I gotta admit, I loved this project. This year will be my second year participating and I am excited to get started. Over the past year, so much has changed in my life that it was nice to be able to document some of the things that have happened. I regained custody of my two oldest girls, met a wonderful guy and his son and had another baby! Literally, in a year, I went from it just being me in my house to having me plus five! We moved from an apartment into a house and introduced the newest members of the family to my folks and Granny. I have met some really awesome people, through this project and IRL. I just want to say thanks to all the ladies of Envisage who have allowed me a peak into their lives and have taken a peak into my own journey. This year is looking like it is going to shape up into a helluva year!

Back to school

On the homefront: Things are quieting down some. It is usually just myself and the baby chilling at home while the kids are in school. I have had one sick kid everyday since Friday and now they have gotten me sick ; _ ; Baduhenna has been cranky as fuck as she has apparently been cutting her first tooth which broke through the gum yesterday!
In education news: The kids started back to school on the 11th. Nu-Isis and Orion are going to a charter school this year. Orion is in 2nd grade and taking class in "the dungeon." Isis is in the 4th grade and her class is a mixture of 4th and 5th graders. Lilith is in public school for one more year until I can get her into a performing arts school next year. We went this past weekend and got her a brand new violin. My dad opted to buy her own instead of renting it as he feels that if a kid has an instrument of her own, they are more likely to care for it better.
Unfortunately, I am not going to be going back to school this semester due to not getting everything together and not being able to get to the school in time for the fall semester to start.
Dylan started his fall semester this week. He is taking a buttload of hours this term.
In nutritional news: I have taken up yoga again. I have been doing Namaste yoga and really liking it. I am also starting a diet today. Not really anything fancy, just limiting my calorie intake and doing some light exercise to burn off additional calories.
Anyhoo, that is really it for now.

They say you can never really go back home

And boy were they not kidding! Don't get me wrong, I love my family. They are the quirky background that has helped to shape who I am today. However, I am truly grateful that I was able to get out of Longview and make my way out here to Arizona. I loved growing up in a small town but damn if when I got there, people who should not have known that I was there, knew within a day! I love being in the city and being able to just melt away and become part of a faceless crowd.
Anywhoo, it was really great getting to see my family. I also got to introduce my boyfriend, his son, and the new baby to everyone. Dad took the Dylan for a ride while we were there and apparently (insert dramatic theme music) really likes him! Told him that he is a guy that Dad can respect! Talk about a win right there!
Driving down there, we had some issues with the van but we made it there and back in one piece. We ended up having to replace the alternator and the battery on it.
I did go see Granny. Turns out before we got there she fell off her back steps and banged her arm up pretty good. I guess this means that she really is getting old. It is hard to believe that she turned 74 this year. I guess to me, Granny will always be in her early 50's. Luckily, she is OK and all she did was pull a groin muscle.
I fixed Pocketlint's laptop while I was in town as well. She had gotten a nasty virus on it and was unable to do anything with it. Now it is up and running and she is loving it. I am glad that I was able to get that done for her.
I also dyed Stevi's hair while I was there. It is now a beautiful shade of bright pink! The dye we used was called crimson blood but totally did not come out the red that we were hoping for, LOL. He let me use a little bit of it for Lilith's hair as well and now she has two pink streaks in the front of her hair. It looks really cute. ^_^
Well, that's it for now.
